First: a purifier sized to the bedroom#

The bedroom comes first because hours matter more than intensity, it is where you spend the longest continuous stretch in one room. Size it the ordinary way: the published CADR minimum for its floor area, rounded up between rows, with the eight-foot ceiling note applied if it applies.

This is the only purchase in the kit with a published number behind it, which is why it goes first and why it is sized by CADR rather than by any claim on the box.

Second: the replacement filters#

The purifier is bought once; the filters are bought for as long as you own it. A kit that forgets this is a kit that stops working the month enthusiasm does, so the second purchase is checking that the first one can be fed.

Confirm the filters are stocked, ordinary items and that the maker publishes the interval: find replacement filters for the unit you choose. The recurring half of the kit should be the boring half.

Third and fourth: source control, then the optional monitor#

Bedding and zip covers do the job no purifier can: they reduce what reaches the air at its source, where the machine never gets a chance to miss it. Filtration and source control are not rivals; they are the two halves of one defence.

The monitor is the optional fourth item. Its honest use is before-and-after on your own room, a way to check the kit is doing something, not a source of absolute truth. Consumer sensors drift; treat the readings as a trend line, not a verdict.
