rated, the pollen CADR column applies

pollen is the largest of the three test particles

The honest answer: tree pollen is a particle, and the pollen CADR, the largest of EPA’s three test particles, rates its removal directly.

The honest caveat: tree pollen is a season, not a malfunction. It arrives through open windows and rides in on clothes and hair. Windows shut in peak season is the source control that decides whether the machine is mopping or bailing.

Is tree pollen a particle?#

Yes, coarse, seasonal, and the largest class EPA tests. That makes the pollen CADR column the most direct figure for it.

Fine particles share the season’s air, which is why the smoke column is still worth a glance: trees also deliver the resinous fine fraction that sticks to everything.

What the rating covers#

The pollen CADR measures removal of pollen-class particles, the direct answer to the season.

It covers the airborne share in a closed room. It does not cover the pollen on the windowsill, on the dog, or in your hair.

What sizing means in the season#

The room row governs: a bedroom between the 100 and 200 sq ft rows takes 130 cfm; a living space between the 300 and 400 sq ft rows takes 260 cfm, rounded up between rows, 8-foot ceiling.

Nights are when the season does its worst indoors. A bedroom-sized unit run continuously with the windows shut is the honest seasonal setup.

Limits and honest caveats#

  • Windows shut in peak season; ventilate at the edges of the day when counts drop.
  • Shower and change clothes after high-pollen days outdoors.
  • Keep the pre-filter clean, the season loads it visibly.
  • A purifier reduces exposure; it is not a treatment. Symptoms belong with a pharmacist or doctor.

Where the marketing overreaches#

"Hay fever cure" is not a claim any rating supports. The published claim is a delivery rate for a room size.

"Pollen mode" is a speed with a seasons’ name. The pollen CADR was always there.
